Dana Bourgeois has been building guitars for nearly 40 years. He is known around the world for his superb craftsmanship and as one of the foremost authorities on the voicing, selection and utilization of fine acoustic tonewoods.

Dana’s reputation as a master luthier has brought people from around the world to our door for a chance to work in our shop. The small, tight-knit group of craftspeople are proud of what they do and work hard to build the best guitars they can.

Located in an 1860’s mill in Lewiston, Maine, Dana and his small, dedicated crew build less than 400 guitars a year and remain committed to giving each instrument a level of attention to detail that is rarely found in the world today.

Looking to the future, Dana is committed to shepherding and training a new generation of luthiers who understand his unique vision of what an acoustic guitar should be.

Bourgeois Guitars are cherished by many professional and amateur musicians around the world. Over the years, Dana Bourgeois has been honored to see and hear what his guitars can do in the hands of players who have used the guitars on stage and record such as Doc Watson, Ricky Skaggs, Bryan Sutton, Marshall Crenshaw, Ray LaMontagne and many others. Because, as Dana says “The coolest thing about a guitar is the music it makes!”
